Computational Fluid Dynamics
As part of our all rounded fluid mechanics expertise we supplement our
experimental capabilities with Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) which can
be used to provide flow predictions. We are fully conversant with Fluent™
although we have had experience in using other commercially available
packages.
CFD can be a cost effective technique to provide answers to problems
where experiments are difficult or expensive to carry out. It is also
invaluable in when carrying out design or optimisation studies where what if
scenarios can be easily tried out before a particular flow device is
manufactured.
Recent examples of CFD studies were in :
- Internal flows in Solid Oxide Fuel Cells (SOFCs) - multi-phase with
simulated chemistry
- Flows in ducts and heat exchangers
- Internal flow in pressurised vessels with heat transfer.
