Dr Martin Haste (BEng [Hons], Ph.D)
Senior Consultant
Specialises in: Optical Measurement Techniques, Software,
Systems Development.
Martin graduated from Loughborough University in 1996 with a 2.1 in
Mechanical Engineering and went on to gain a PhD, also from Loughborough, in
2000. During his PhD he developed expertise in optical measurement systems,
particularly for fluid flow and combustion, and applied them to study the
flow and combustion inside an optically accessible four stroke petrol
engine. Before joining SCITEK he worked for 5 years at Jaguar Cars when he
established a facility employing the optical measurement techniques of
Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV). Laser Induced Fluorescence (LIF) and high
speed imaging. The optical techniques were used to study flows, fuel sprays
and mixing inside optical engines and a pressure vessel with the primary
objective of increasing understanding of the processes that govern emissions
production. He also has experience of writing applications using LabVIEW,
Visual C++ and Matlab.
He joined SCITEK Consultants in January 2005 and carries out projects in
his speciality areas.
