Graduated form Manchester University in 1980 with a first class honours
degree in Mechanical engineering. He gained his PhD in Oil spillage recovery
devices and his device developed from the PhD project was patented world
wide and has been in production as a commercial product for the last 15
years by a UK company. After his PhD he worked on a four-year post doctoral
project to develop a Phase Doppler particle sizing system which was used for
pressurised water reactor studies. As part of this project he developed
considerable expertise in fluid mechanics, particle sizing, laser diagnostic
techniques, signal processing, rig design, and in computer programming and
interfacing. He then worked for seven years at Rolls-Royce where he worked
on fluid dynamic applications using experimental and computational fluid
dynamics techniques. He also worked in computational intelligence techniques
where he developed a fuzzy logic crane controller and worked on the
development of a computational intelligence toolkit. After RR he worked as
the IT and R&D manager of a motorcycle component company where he gained
expertise in the programming of accounting packages and in efficiency
improvements. He then formed SCITEK Consultants Ltd in 1997 where he manages
and carries out projects described on these web pages.
